Mrs. Dakhlian
This is now my thirteenth year with Brighton Schools. I was raised here in Brighton and graduated as Bulldog. After which, I went to Michigan State (GO GREEN!). There I received my degree in Special Education, including elementary education and learning disabilities. Immediately after graduating I worked with Owosso Public School for a year in an early elementary resource room, and then the following year transferred to Corunna and ran their Early Childhood Special Education classroom for a couple years. During this time I worked on finishing an early childhood endorsement through Ferris State. Eventually my journey led me back to Brighton teaching right where I grew up.
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with a family and friends, running, and working out. My husband and I live in Brighton with our two children-Jax and Evianna, and our two cats. It has been such an adventure and I can't wait to share more about my family with yours.

Mrs. Gehres
My name is Emily Gehres, and I am so excited to get to be one of your child's JK teachers this year!
A little background about me: I was born and raised in North Carolina. I moved to Michigan in 2019 with my husband who is from Brighton. I attended East Carolina University where I completed a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I taught kindergarten at Hornung during the years of 2021-2023 but stepped away this past school year due to personal reasons. I am so excited to be back as I missed my Hornung family so much!
My husband, Chad, and I have one dog, Sunny, who we absolutely adore! In my free time I love to work out at Orangetheory Fitness, go for walks with Sunny and Chad, and spend time with family and friends. I can’t wait to get to know your child and all the things they love. It’s going to be a great year! :)
