Your Teachers

This is now my twelfth year with Brighton Schools. I was raised here in Brighton and graduated as Bulldog. After which, I went to Michigan State (GO GREEN!). There I received my degree in Special Education, including elementary education and learning disabilities. Immediately after graduating I worked with Owosso Public School for a year in an early elementary resource room, and then the following year transferred to Corunna and ran their Early Childhood Special Education classroom for a couple years. During this time I worked on finishing an early childhood endorsement through Ferris State. Eventually my journey led me back to Brighton teaching right where I grew up.

Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with a family and friends, running, and working out. My husband and I live in Brighton with our two children-Jax and Evianna, and our two cats. It has been such an adventure and I can't wait to share more about my family with yours.

My name is Kelsey Hatherley, and I’m honored to be your child’s Junior Kindergarten teacher! I’m a Brighton graduate and a former student at Hornung Elementary so my history in this community goes back. I’m so excited to share this wonderful building with your child.
In addition to being a Brighton grad I’m also an Eastern Michigan University grad.
I have my bachelors in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. This will be my 4th year teaching and my third year teaching JK. I married my high school sweetheart in 2018. My husband and I have an English Springer Spaniel named Moose! We love to travel, go camping, take walks at state parks and bike to downtown Fenton where we live. I can't wait to have a great year with your child!
